Hi all,

We have a physician starting in our practice that is currently a nurse practitioner only office. Until the doctor is credentialed can he be billed as a locum tenens provider under a nurse practitioner's NPI #?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

No. Locums can only be used if the other provider is not available (say on Vacation). Since he is coming to work for you and will be credentialed you can't bill as Locums under another providers NPI.

Billing a Physician under NP's NPI

Let's say the NP is on vacation. Can you bill a Physician service under the Nurse Practitioner's NPI?? That doesn't seem right..
