You need to know things like, is this related to the patient's condition for which they are on hospice? If it is related, is it medically necessary for the treatment and management of their terminal illness? Comfort is the primary goal of hospice, with pain and symptom management, improved quality of life, and support for the natural process of dying.
Is it being done by the attending physician of record, and is that physician employed by a hospice provider? Is it being done by a specialist?
