Hello I have never seen this procedure performed on an encrusted ureteral stent.
there were calcifications on the proximal coil and distal coil of the stent. ESWL was initiated was performed at 100 shocks
to allow the kidney to rest. The shock rate started at a rate of 60 shock/minute and gradually increased.
A rigid cystoscopy was advanced and the distal stent coil was completely encrusted. I used rigid graspers to break the stone up into small fragments then removed the fragments.
The stent was grasped and removed without complications.
I have no idea how to code this one....
Thanks,
Carol
