Patient had a mastectomy on 12/3. Woke up on 01/03 with open wound. Came to the ED with implant being visible. In the OR left breast implant was removed and set in full strength Dakin solution to soak. The pocket was then irrigated with 3 L of ortho irrigation. The superior capsule was scored with Bovie electrocautery. Hemostasis was verified with Bovie electrocautery, and a 15-French JP drain was placed. The skin and capsule edges were trimmed, and sent to Pathology for permanent. The implant had been soaking the entire time, was then placed back into the pocket.

It was coded with CPT 19330 and 19342. Claim is hitting error because 19342 needs an implant. What would be coded for the same implant being reimplanted?

Would CPT 19380 work? I cannot find a good description for the code (I believe that is because it is very generic). I just want to make sure CPT 19380 would include the removal of the implant, clean up and reinsertion. Any comments? Thank you.
