So my doctor did an excision of a breast cyst and drained an abscess cavity that was surrounding the cyst. My question is can this be reported separately or would the drainage of the abscess be included in the excision of the cyst???
The report reads
" The patient was brought to the operating room and placed in a supine position. After general anesthesia was induced, her right breast was prepped and draped in a sterile fashion and a time out performed. Attention was then turned to the infected right breast cyst which was in the approximate 1 o'clock position. An incision was made over the cyst and the overlying infected tissue and underlying infected cyst were excised. A large abscess cavity surrounding the cyst was also drained of loculations and purulent fluid. the abscess cavity was thoroughly irrigated and suctioned out and packed with iodoform gauze. A sterile dressing was placed. The patient was taken out from anesthesia and to the recovery suite in stable condition."
