Wiki BMI for normal weight

Hi,
I am wondering if you would still assign the BMI to a patient's chart if they are within normal limits for adults and pediatrics? The ICD-10 guidelines state 'BMI codes should only be assigned when there is an associated, reportable diagnosis (such as obesity)'.

I'm pretty sure you answered your own question, but am curious as to what additional diagnosis you would assign to go with the BMI code.

I would make a case for reporting normal BMIs during a preventive visit, especially in pediatrics, as they can provide a baseline to measure growth and deviations over time.
