Need some assistance on whether this biopsy can be billed.

"At that point I had withdrawn the colonoscope but after I completed his ileoscopy, I reinserted the colonoscope into the rectum, went up into his sigmoid colon. Once again it was completely occluded at that point with these mucoid plugs which I took a biopsy forceps and took some bites out just to confirm it was not tissue based."

No specimen was sent for review.

I don't think there is a requirement that tissue must be sent to pathology. Sometimes they bite off a polyp and drop it or lose it in there, but it is still a biopsy. In my opinion it is the technique used to accomplish the result.
