Hello,
I own a small billing service and currently bill for non-physician, hospital based providers. I perform charge entry, claims filing, appeals, payment posting and patient billing for these providers. Since my providers are not physicians with "physical" offices and can not bill to Medicare, I have had no need for appointment scheduling, EMR or eRx requirements. In the future I will be taking on a surgeon that performs surgery, as well as sees patients in the office. I use a single user version of Medisoft.
My question: What are other billing services suggesting to their MD providers in regards to scheduling systems, EMR/EHR and eRx? I just want to be prepared to advise my new provider as to what options are available to him, for the services that me and my PMS system are unable to perform for them. I will only be able to perform the billing and follow-up aspect.
Any information will be helpful and greatly appreciated.
