Wiki Billing question

Pt comes in to see dr. Pt not feeling well and dizzy. Pt taken immediately to hospital by dr. Pt admitted to er and then to hospital. How to bill for office visit?

If your provider admitted the patient, you combine your physician's work (E/M services) of the OV and ED visit related to the admission into an Initial Hospital Care code when performed on the same date of service. You would not bill separately for the OV or ED visit in this case. You can find this information in the CPT manual under Initial Hospital Care.
