Wiki billing psychotherapy codes with the place of service 11

Hi! I work for a Mental health center and wanted to know if anyone knows where I can find some documentation that states you can bill Psychotherapy codes with the place of service 11 (office). We normally bill with place of service 53> cpt codes are 90832 90834 90837??

The codes may be billed with various places of service. It will depend on your facility type. If you are a Community Mental Health Center you need to use 53.

The only time I change a place of service from 53 to 11 is if you are billing an injection on the same claim as an E/M or therapy code to medicare or medicaid. In that case you would add the correct modifier to the Dr or therapist service and change the place of service to 11.

The POS does not change with the service provided. If the POS is 53 for the visit then it is 53 for the injection. The POS is the same as where the patient is registered as a patient regardless of where the service takes place.
