Can anyone provide advice on billing for psychotherapy or counseling services as part of an Oncology patient treatment plan? What services can be billed by the provider?

Hi JJoyner,
so, it depends who is providing the psychotherapy.
Psychologists & Social Workers would code the 96150 series. These are used when a patient has a medical condition that is causing a mental health condition, i.e., depression due to cancer; depression due to chronic pain.
(Look at 96152, believe that on is for individual psychotherapy)
Psychiatrists would use the regular 90832-90838 psychotherapy. Use the appropriate code if medication management is also provided, i.e. 90833 with 99213 and so on.
