One of our pediatric surgeons routinely does not see a circumcision patient back in the office until 3 weeks after the procedure. He says prior to that, the patient has swelling so it makes it difficult to determine if the pt is healing properly. My question is, even though this is related to the surgery, it is outside the global period. Can he charge a minimal office visit for this date?

doesn't a circumcision have a 90 day global? if so it is global and not chargable. If it is less, I would still call it global since the provider chose to not schedule a follow up while it was in the global, the patient is still allowed that benefit of the free follow up encounter.
