From time to time implants are used in cases and are either too small, too big, splinter the bone, etc. Our ASC is charged by the vendor for the implant as it can not be re-sterilized and used.

Would it be appropriate to pass this cost along with the insurance carrier if our contract does allow for reimbursement for implants?

Hello- I have the same question. We don't normally bill for implants unless it is permanently in the patient when they leave. We consider them as provisional items. Our new director is wanting us to change that. Did you find any info to support billing the insurance carrier?
