My officer manager received an email from a local surgeon's office who stated that they bill L&I for Pt. no shows. I am wonder if, as a family practice, I can do the same or if this option is only open to certain specialties? I have been all over the L&I website and cannot find an exact answer but I'm leaning towards the fact that, if there is no Pt. present there is no billing that can be done.

You can bill the patient only. You cannot send a claim to the insurance and expect or receive payment.

But be sure the patient is aware of the policy before you do it, you it won't stand up in small claims court and a collector won't have a leg to stand on legally to collect.
