Hi all,
I recently came across a patient account who was seen for anxiety due to domestic violence. The patient is married to the perpetrator and on a commercial insurance plan together listed under the spouses insurance. What is your company's policy for billing commercial (or any) insurance when it could put the patient at a greater risk in their home if the perpetrator were to receive the EOB? There isn't anything formal in place with my company and I really think something needs to be changed with that.
Any input and advice is greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
