Can I bill from areferral letter to the referring physician even if my physician states "that he has reviewed past documentation" in the chart? Does he need to have some office dictation with this info? Can you EVER bill just from a referral lettter?
Thanks, debate going on in the office. LOL!

Acutually, the NP saw the patient but the PHYSICIAN dictated the referral letter. Yes, the info is the same but it has been a few months from the original visit. I was just under the impression that you can never bill from a referral letter. ?

Some practices generate an exact copy of the medical record as a method of communicating the referral. Personally, I would not use the physician dictated referral letter since this is second hand. I would opt with the the NP's actual record.
