What kind of deduction are you speaking of? Multiple surgery reductions only apply to two or more surgeries done on the same date - there's no reduction for procedures done on different dates. Some payers apply a payment reduction to a procedure with a modifier 78, but that's for a return to the OR related to the original surgery. In this case, you'd be using modifier 79 so there shouldn't be any reduction in payment.

No, it's two totally separate things. As Thomas said, you would be appending the 79 to the second to indicate that it was unrelated to the prior case in global.

Thank you for the answer. I just need to add a 79 to the second surgery if within a global of another. No reduction with payment
