We have a patient that was seen in clinic at the same time they were inpatient at an acute specialty hospital. I'm being told by a customer service representative at WPS that we should bill an outpatient office visit with place of service 21(inpatient). She said we should get paid for the office visit and the professional component of the x-ray and would have to be reimbursed by the facility for the technical component. This doesn't seem right. Has anyone else had any experience with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is correct. The POS must be the 21. If the X-ray was performed in your office then you bill for the tech and professional. You could try to bill the facility for you technical components but I don't think you will paid. You will be reimbursed the same as if you had provided the service in the hospital setting.
