Hi all!
I have a question the anestheseiologist that I work for does occasional dental cases where he adminsters GENERAL anesthesia.... He would like for me to bill the insurance carrier the D9220 instead of the medical code 00170.Is that even possible since he isn't a dentist? I am needing some information regarding this so if ANYONE can help that would help me better understand this. Thank you!

Only Bill 00170, I have done Anesthesia For a Childrens Hospital and we would see children have Complete Dental Restorations done by the Dental Surgeon and one of our Anesthesiologist would provide General or MAC. If the Dentist did his own i would use the D-code. But since your not billing for himm use the correct ASA Code. Also that D-code even says "Sedation".

The Claim Would be AA-00170 (If performed Alone)
