Wiki Billing a Category III code - Securing payment ???

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any experience billing the category III codes +0662T or +0663T for the Chemotherapy cooling cap ? Have you been successful in getting paid by Medicare or a private payer ? If so, what are you tips or recommendations ?? Any information would be appreciated. Desiree Gray

There is at least one LCD for scalp cooling for Medicare coverage, but that's MAC specific. You'd have to look at each payer policy for primary payers. There weren't a bunch of private payers when I checked this past spring. It may help to reach out to the company, as they often have coding and reimbursement information.

Our local MAC has said they will consider other MAC LCDs for services we appeal, if the local does not have an LCD of their own.
