Can anyone assist with this question. I am finding information on Modifier 50 for bilateral procedures and the RT LT usage but it mostly pertains to surgery. Can anyone point me in the right direction for the correct modifier for bilateral xrays? Is the Modifier 50 used or RT and LT? Any resource information you can give me will be greatly appreciated!

Bilateral is bilateral. Whether it is x-ray's or surgeries. Modifier -50 is not reference to either situation exclusively. Some payor's do not like you to use the modifier 50 or 51 as their computer's don't recognize it. So know your payor. Medicare wants you to use the 50 modifier, not LT or RT.
