My doctor inserted bilateral ureteral catheters for general surgeon who was doing colon resection..I find conflicting information regarding billing 52005 with a -50 or RT/LT modifier. CPT Assistant article says it can be billed bilaterally(2001)but I also notice some posts that state that it cannot be billed bilaterally. Does anyone have a resource stating policy on this code? Received denial from United Healthcare stating "this code not considered reimbursable as bilateral".
