I wanted to query the forum to see if anyone could point me to any Medicare guideline that disallows total knee arthroplasty (27447) on both knees at the same time.
We recently had an appeal deny and were told as of January 2012 Medicare will not cover both knees at the same time. I cannot find a LCD/NCD or any policy to this effect.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
