Wiki Behavioral and Depression Screenings

Florida Pediatric Billing for Medicaid. All of my providers bill for depression and behavioral screenings during a patient's AWV. We have used 96127, 91610, and G8510 and all are denied as non covered services. I do see none of these codes are payable per Medicaid fee schedule. The providers are saying they are being instructed to use these codes by the Managed Care Representatives. My question is why would they be told to bill these services if they are not payable? Is there another CPT/HCPC available that I am missing?

Hi,

From my understanding Medicare bills the depression screening under G0444. If patient comes in with symptoms, then the other codes can be charged. I don't get this often, but asked another coder and that is what they do.
