Wiki Avulsion INj ICD 10

Hi,

Dr. dictates that patient experienced an avulsion injury of skin/tissue down to tendon of left small finger. No tendon injury etc. It was pulled off by a sweatshirt string. How do you code this? Its not a bite or puncture? I don't really see it as a laceration either.

According to the Index under avulsion its one of the 3 tracks to follow

Muscle >see Injury muscle
Tendon > see Injury tendon
Skin and sub q > see wound, open, by site

Id probably go with skin and sub Q since there was no tendon damage. Per index Code for Left small finger is S61.207-. With damage to nail is S61.307-
