Situation is we are the facility side charging for the PET scan. Dr office got an auth for January. Patient insisted on having it done in dec. they told him he would be responsible and he said fine but they did not get a notice of noncovered signed. He has UHC insurance. UHC obviously denied due to no auth now patient won’t pay. EOB states zero pt responsibility. Can we bill patient still?? Thanks

Does your facility have forms the patient signs? If so, do you have a statement regarding denied claims and patient responsibility on there? If not I would at the very least complete a UHC claim reconsideration form online or paper. Depending on outcome then I would consider billing patient. Hope this helps. Thanks

A notice of noncoverage was not signed by the patient unfortunately like it should have been. We are appealing with UHC but getting nowhere. Thanks for the response.
