Hi, our cardiologist was called in by a surgeon, from a different group, to see if he could retrieve a foreign body...not sure how to code...
a piece of the retrieval device from a inferior vena cava filter broke off and went up the inferior vena cava into the right heart. My physician inserted the glidewire thru the rt femoral vein and then into th inferior vena cava, then advanced into the RVOT and pulmonary artery. Then negotiated towards the dislodged foreign body. an echo was done to confirm where the foreign body was and it was in the RVOT, he tried to retrieve it with a goose neck snare, but without success...pt then being transferrred for surgery. What can my cardiologist bill for? any suggesitons would be greatly appreciated. Sandy
