Dr. attempted to remove a port a cath. unfortunately only the port came out initially. He then took the patient to the operating room where basically he performed an exploration of the chest with attempted removal of the catheter on the same day. The catheter was found completely in the subclavian vein. a small nick was made in the vein to attempt retrieval but only resulted in copious amount of bleeding. venotomy was closed...
for the first procedure which only the port came out we are billing 36590-52 but are at a loss for the exploration.
