Good morning. We have a potential client asking about assistant surgery billing and we were able to come up with the following rules:
Modifiers include: -62, -66, -80,-81,-82 and –AS
reduced allowable (something like 16% less than surgeon)
payers may not pay for the AAS (Assistant At Surgery) in fewer than 5% of cases
documentation to support need of 2 surgeons required with claim
Can anyone give any insight as to of these rules are still applicable? Has anyone had any issues with getting these paid recently? Any ideas where I can get some up to date information?
