We need a answer ASAP on this-any help would be great!
We have a patient with Cigna insurance that is a inpatient at the hospital due to cancer. Pt will be DC from the hospital and pt will come to our ASC to have a pain pump implanted by a different provider (maybe for pain control). This is all the information I have at this time. I have not been able to talk to our administrator and I have not been able to get all the facts about the hospital stay...if pt had any procedures or not, or why they are not doing the pump implant while pt is in the hospital.
Does anyone know if a ASC can be reimbursed for a procedure the day following his discharge from the hospital?
I was thinking we may need to add modifier 58.
