I want to take the exam in october. I am a CPC, but i want to get into ASC, but i have never done ASC coding before. Please can anyone tell me would this be a good idea to take the test.
I thought the ASC exam was a little more difficult than the CPC exam, and I am an ASC coder. It is all operative notes and covers every coding section in the CPT book. Most ASC coders work in one or two specialties. I purchased the practicum and it was a big help in preparing for the exam. Even if you don't pass the first time, it will give you a good idea of what to expect when you take it again. The only issue I have with having multiple certifications is having to get additional CEU's, which is not easy for ASC. That's the reason I haven't taken the OBGYN exam. I'm not trying to talk you out of it. It is definitely worth it if you want to get into an ASC.
Hope this helps.
