I'm coding an arthroscopic knee surgery and am having a hard time figuring out the code for procedure "arthroscopic excision of anvil osteophytes". Below is the procedure described in the op note - It is being billed with arthroscopic synovectomy 29876 and medial meniscectomy 29881 (documented in previous paragraph of the op note).
"Synovectomy was performed in all three compartments by starting from the patellofemoral joint area going down to the medial and lateral gutter, medial and lateral compartments, removing all the loose synovitic tissue in all thee compartments and used a wand to stop all the bleeders. Using a bur, we performed excision of the Anvil osteophytes contouring it down to remainder of the tibial plateau. We were able to get the patient another 5 degrees of full extension by excising the Anvil osteophytes. All miscellaneous bleeders were cauterized."
