I am looking for a CPT code for distraction of the ankle joint. The distraction was done with an external fixator. There was nothing else done except the application of the fixator device which is called a small bone innovation external device. Once the device is applied, the wires are tensioned and the joint is distracted. Application of an external fixation device does not seem quite right (CPT 20692)-perhaps an unlisted code? does anyone have any thoughts on this?
