Any ideas regarding how to bill for an orthopaedic office visit for a patient who was inpatient in a hospital based alcohol treatment program? We billed it out with pos 11 initially and Medicare denied it due to the fact that the patient was inpatient. We found some Medicare instructions which said use the inpatient pos and now we can't get it past the claim edits in our billing software. The patient did come to the office for his visit while he was still in inpatient treatment. Help please!

You will need to get your claim edits adjusted to accept it with the inpatient POS. The POS is equal to where the patient is registered. So acute inpatient or rehab inpatient, or any inpatient type, will be the POS even when the patient is transported to the office setting.
