Wiki Anesthetic Injection

PA seen patient for Shoulder pain. Patient was in too much pain for the PA to due exam. PA injected pt's shoulder with lidocaine to allow for exam. I'm thinking this is a billable procedure but having trouble deciding what CPT to use.

if you're coding for the shoulder injection, I would use 20610, as well as the J-code for whatever was injected. Also, it may be a good idea to have the doctor detail the reason for the injection (to allow him to perform the exam), as that will support the modifier -25 that you'll need for the E/M.
