When billing to Medicare, commercial, and WC do you include the Base Units with the time units in the total units billed to the carrier, or just the time units? I was reading NGSMedicare's site and they say jus the time units, but I don't want to be underpaid and at the same time I don't want to overbill. Commercial carriers have zero guidance on this. All they talk about is the calculation of the payment rates, which I already know. Can someone please tell me if you add in the Base Units or just bill the time units. Also, for the modifiers that add units, do I add the units or will the carriers increase the payment based on the modifiers. The doctor is out of network with all except MC and NYS WC. I appreciate the help, I really don't like trial and error. Thanks.
