Wiki An unusual IOP billing routine

I am reviewing a facility where they discharge every client on the last day of the month and re-admit them the 1st day of the following month.

I find this to be unusual, and was hoping someone could tell me something about this routine.

the facility I work at does the same thing because the accounts are recurring. So all the charges for the month are on one account.

Do you know what the reason for this is? Is it just on an accounting end?
I work for a substance abuse facility and we have kept our IOP clients active and never discharge until they move on to OP services.

Is this an insurance company thing? Maybe something they are looking for?
