I have a billing question regarding billing allergy testing when 2 different MD's perform different part of the testing code.

The codes are for "review and interpretation" of the allergy testing. Also the codes require direct physician supervision so a MD must be in the office suite to supervise.

We have physician A who ordered the allergy testing.
Physician B was present in the office when the patient was tested (ordering Physician A was not)

The same day, the patient returns in the afternoon to see physician A to go over the results. Physician A interprets and reports the test.

So the supervision portion of the test was done with one MD
The interpret and report under another.

One coder suggested we use the TC and 26 modifiers to separate the different portions. HOWEVER- from what we have been able to find these codes can not be split and are not compatible with the TC and 26 modifiers.

The codes in question are 95004 and 95024.

If anyone has any suggestions, or can refer me to someone who would know this it would be much helpful.

Also- the patient is Medicare primary.

Thanks!
