When trying to fix a claim on the Alabama Medicaid portal, after correcting the claim and then clicking Adjust, the claim is put in Suspended Status. Why is this?

Usually medicaid suspends claims when they are looking into possible fraud on a claim. The state must follow the procedures outlined in the regulation to analyze and document good cause exceptions, which may also include an access to care determination. Contact them directly on this specific claim. You should receive an explanation of why they have suspended the claim though, regardless of their reason so you can move forward with billing and accounts receivables. These suspensions are only usually only temporary. You can re-submit with corrections in the meantime, if this is unable to be done electronically, you can do so via paper billing.
