Hi,
Would anyone know if medical doctors can safely charge an administration fee to patients outside of the fee-for-service billing we would perform for the care given?
For instance, we charge a yearly fee to patients to cover all of the office adminstration costs that are not covered by insurance reimbursement. In addition,
would there be any reason why we could not offer an administration fee to incoming OB patients for the advantage of having the doctor's personal cell #?
Not sure if this would be a breach with our insurance company contracts.
Thank you
Janet

Is you office set up as a concierge medical office. This would be where the patient would knowingly sign a contract and pay a fee each year to have your physician be available 24/7 for them. If not, any admin fees for normal office paperwork etc. (per your contracts with insurance companies) would be included in your contracted reimbursement.
