I have a question in regards to using the +99324 add on code for a provider such as a social worker, counselor, and psychologist. This code was previously for services performed with and E/M. Can these provider types use the +99324 as prolonged services?
Per CPT +99324 - Prolonged service in the office or other outpatient setting requiring direct patient contact beyond the usual service; first hour (List separately in addition to code for office or other outpatient Evaluation and Management service)
Code first (99201-99215, 99241-99245, 99324-99337, 99341-99350, 90837)
Per CPT 90837- (Psychotherapy, 60 minutes with patient and/or family member) This code has new text highlighted in green: Use the appropriate prolonged services code (99354, 99355, 99356, 99357) for psychotherapy services not performed with an E/M service of 90 minutes or longer face-to-face with the patient.
