Please correct me if the definition given is not accurate:

Acute: Less than six weeks duration
Chronic: Long time, old

If this is accurate, then an acute injury can become a chronic condition?

If a patient sprains their ankle and seeks treatment 8 weeks later, is it already a chronic condition?

The doctor determines acute or chronic not the coder. you must query the doctor always.
