Has anyone run into this situation?

You have a new physician join your practice. He is not credentialed yet with all insurances.(physician A) You have a physician who is credentialed with the insurances. (physician B)

Can established patient visits be billed under physician B when physician A performs part of the visit? They are both following Physician B's plan of care, and are both seeing the patients and performing parts of the visit. Both physician's names will be on the office note. Sort of like billing "incident to" with the PA's.

No

Physicians can not be incident to other physicians.

You either limit the patients being seen by the new provider to the carriers they are credentialed with or that will back date to the date of the application.

Or your patients will get hit with out of network rates by their insurance.
