One of my providers is doing a big project on 99408 (using the AUDIT tool) and has asked for my help in researching the coding & billing aspect. We've been billing 99408 with 99213/99214, but she's asked me if 99408 can be performed by the therapists in the office as well. So, it'd be 99408 on top of the 90834 that the therapists would be billing.
I've only seen information stating that 99408 is distinct from E/M services and may be reported with mod 25, but nothing in regards to using it with psychotherapy codes as well. Also, are LMSW, LCSW, and LCSW-R's qualified to do this type of service?
