Wiki 99211

99211 is used for nurse visits, billed incident-to (in a physician office; POS 11). No new patients, no new problems, a treatment plan must be in place and the supervising provider must be in the office suite. BP checks, weight checks, meter downloads, etc., are commonly billed as nurse visits, as long as the patient doesn't also see the provider. It isn't to be billed with an injection, vaccination, or other administration code. Use 86580 for PPD Placement. That code includes the read, so you can't bill a nurse visit when the patient comes back.

When do we use 99211? Can we use it along for PPD placement. Does PPD placement need an admin code ie.,,96372?
I agree that no injection code is reported in addition to 86580. However, CPT Assistant has stated on at least 2 occasions that reading the PPD is part of a later E/M service (typically 99211 unless a physician needs to evaluate the injection site and consider further testing). I believe that Codify also supports this in the Lay Term section for 86580. As always, individual payers may vary on coverage and all of the incident-to requirements must be met (eg, read by qualified employee, established patient, and physician in office suite at time of return visit).
