Established pain management patient being prescribed narcotics. Dr's documentation notes monthly follow up urine drug screen to monitor compliance. Patient is called in to office randomly to give urine sample. If doctor is not physically in office but available remotely (EMR), is 99211 applicable to bill? Thanks.

No, even though the physician does not need to be in the room with the patient, the physician must be physically in the immediate office suite area for the nurse to provide a billable service.
