Can someone please clarify if 95940 can be used for the technical component (TC) of IOM when the certified Technician is in the surgical room and the Neurologist, who is doing the reading and interpretation is remote? I thought the 95940 was coded whenever the reading Neurologist was in the room personally performing the monitoring. In other words, personal supervision needs to take place in order to use 95940. I've been told that we can use 95940 to bill the technical component because the tech qualifies as the 'monitoring professional' and is in the surgical room doing the monitoring.
