As we know, 1995 guidelines are easier for GI docs to follow. Unfortunately, our new EMR, which was created for GI practices, follows the 1997 guidelines. (I can't understand why they chose do this) We are trying to determine exactly what our physicians need to document in order to bill a level 4 examination for consults/new patients and we are running into many problems/concerns as many of bullets that need to be met are just not medically necessary for a GI consult/new patient visit.

I would like to discuss this issue with any GI coder working for a practice that is following 1997 guidelines. Are any other GI practices using the 1997 guidelines??? Any GI coders on here using G-med as their EMR?
