I have billed 93970 because my medical records stated that- "a complete bilateral venous duplex ultrasound study of the lower extremities, including detailed findings for both the left and right legs. Based on the information provided, including assessments of the great and small saphenous veins on both sides, as well as other tributary veins". But united healthcare is denying my claim saying that "CPT is Not supported. Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code 93970 represents duplex scan of extremity veins including responses to compression and other maneuvers; complete bilateral study. The medical records indicate that duplex scan of extremity veins including responses to compression and other maneuvers; unilateral or limited study was performed. There's a more appropriate CPT code that should be used to bill for the service provided. The documentation didn't include the evaluation of the required veins. Of note, fort he upper extremities the following areas examined must be documented, subclavian, jugular, axillary, brachial, basilic, and cephalic veins. This means we can't verify the validity and accuracy of the billed service."
I need help what other current cpt code is used for complete bilateral venous duplex ultrasound??
