Wiki 92250 - diabetic patient

Florida question - Medicare. Looking into subcontracting with Ophthalmologist who will interp 92250 for our diabetic patients. Camera in our primary care offices with trained tech. Would use diabetes as dx. If patient has no eye symptoms but hasn't had eye exam, can we use 92250 for baseline exam - similar to screening.

I don't think you would get paid by Medicare just using the diabetes dx. For screening, you could have the patient assume responsibility for the cost, but once you pay the ophthalmologist for the interp, you would be lucky to break even, and that doesn't even factor in recouping the cost for the machine. Why not just send them to an OD/MD?
